Nations for the presence of international observers at the elections - poll
The survey, conducted by WorldPublicOpinion.org in 17 countries, found that residents of 15 of them have a positive attitude to such practices as monitoring the electoral process by international observers. In 11 countries, most people believe that it will benefit their country.

The situation in Ukraine

In Ukraine, the survey showed that most (63%) consider it desirable presence of international observers at elections. The presence of observers expressed 25% of respondents, 12% did not identify.

In Russia the number of pros and cons rozpodilylasya almost half (45% and 40% for the presence of observers).

On the question of whether people want the presence of international observers who have watched the process, "when there is concern about the integrity of elections, on average across all countries polled, 64% gave an affirmative answer. In any country the majority opposes it, while in Turkey and India opinions are divided. In most countries that supported the presence of observers, this opinion supports the vast majority (often at a ratio of 2 to 1 on the opponents). The widest support for this idea has gained in Azerbaijan (83%), Kenya (82%) and Britain (81%). Furthermore, it is supported by a majority of the population of Hong Kong (55%), Macau (63%) and Taiwan (61%).

Slightly more than half of respondents in India also believe that the benefits of international observers to their country will not. And in Russia, Turkey and divided opinion.

WorldPublicOpinion.org poll was conducted among 16 863 respondents in 17 countries: Azerbaijan, Britain, Egypt, India, Iraq, Kenya, Mexico, Nigeria, Germany, Pakistan, Russia, the United States, Turkey, Ukraine, France, Chile and Palestinian territories. They also interviewed people on Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau.

WorldPublicOpinion.org, which is a research project that combines the sociological organizations of different countries, coordinated by the Program for Research on the perception of international strategies (PIPA, the Program on International Policy Attitudes) University of Maryland. In research into possible error of 3-4% in one or another side. Survey respondents in all these countries was conducted from 4 April to July 9, 2009.
